Neem-Ka-Thana (Hindi: नीम-का-थाना is a city and a municipality in Sikar district in the Indianstate of Rajasthan. It is one of the six tehsils of the district.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,Neem-Ka-Thana had a population 1,10,000. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Neem-Ka-Thana has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 56%. In Neem-Ka-Thana, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Agriculture is one of the sources of income of the people. Principal crops include wheat, mustard, gram, moong, moth, guwar, bajra, red chillies, pulses, groundnuts, barley and rapeseed.[citation needed]
Transportation
Neem-Ka-Thana is a railway station (station code NMK) on Rewari-Ringas-Phulera railway line. The railway line connects to Ajmer towards the south and Delhi towards northeast. The town is also connected by roads to nearby cities.
Historical importance
Ganeshwar, the historical village of the Chalcolithic period, is situated 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from Neem Ka Thana. Ganeshwar is noted for its hot water sulphur spring. Ganeshwar has recently yielded the remains of Copper Age culture, datable to 2800 - 2000 B.C. The discovery of more than two thousand copper implements from the site prove that the region was the cradle of early civilization.[citation needed] On 24 October 1995, a solar eclipse could be seen clearly from this place.
Education
Neem-Ka-Thana has several schools and colleges including government Sanskrit College and government Science College.
